Seminar 1: Natural Forces that Shape our Buildings in the 21st Century: by Beyhan Karahan, AIA, LEED Principal, Beyhan Karahan Associates
Ms Karahan will focus on how the forces of Nature have shaped the Buildings in the 21st Century.
Seminar 2: BIM from Perspective of Risk and Project Management: by Tarek Bahgat, Senior Principal PMA Consultants
There has been a lot of hype about Building Information Modeling (BIM), or VDC and its uses in the industry. This Presentation will offer a definition of BIM and will take us around the globe to projects on which BIM or VDC implementation has made a real impact on project outcome.
Seminar 3: How Seismic Technology has shaped the Design of Tall Buildings and Bridges:
By Dr. Mohiuddin A. Khan
Major earthquakes have been recurring at regular intervals on our Planet. For example, in the past ten years, places like California, India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, China, Chile, Haiti, New Zealand and most recently in Japan, have lost hundreds of thousand lives and billions of dollars in damages to property and infrastructure due to earthquakes.
Dr. Khan will address how modern technology can be applied to minimize damage to buildings and bridges and how advance planning can be used to combat disasters and minimize reconstruction efforts.
